<a href="#comment-712" rel="nofollow">@ScottyMac </a>
Going into full screen makes it more difficult to switch among windows. Also, auto-hiding menus or toolbars can be slow to respond (something which really bothers me).

Stumbled across this old post...Is there a reason that F11 doesn't work on EeePC? Hides everything but content. Clicking it again brings it back. Maybe it's too much trouble when you're trying to surf?

Thank you for your suggestions. I'll certainly have a look at those extensions.

[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us '0 which is not a hashcash value.

More suggestion: Use Classic Compact + Classic Compact options, it ends up being smaller.
Instead of TinyMenu, use Compact Menu 2. Instead of the word "Menu" it's a button which looks nicer and saves space.
And, you can get rid of the statusbar entirely if you use fission and tell it to put website loading info in the adress bar like Safari.
